Operations Job Summary The Shared Legal Services Lawyer delivers high‑quality,
multi‑disciplinary legal support across markets and global functions. The role
currently provides services in legal due diligence and procurement contract
remediation however the scope of the services the team provides is constantly
under review and is likely to expand. This role requires a flexible and
collaborative lawyer who brings strong legal judgement, the ability to operate
across multiple jurisdictions, and a commitment to simplifying and elevating how
legal support is delivered across the business. Key Responsibilities Legal Due
Diligence Working with customer and vendor onboarding teams to coordinate legal
due diligence for new and renewed Diageo business partners. Conduct legal
due‑diligence assessments on third‑party suppliers and customers, including
screening outcomes, risk classification, and compliance checks. Review and
analyse due‑diligence inputs such as TPQs, World‑Check hits, beneficial
ownership information, and red‑flag indicators, providing clear and actionable
recommendations. Partner with market legal teams to ensure complex or high‑risk
matters are raised appropriately and resolved efficiently. Identify recurring
risk themes and contribute to continuous improvement of playbooks, templates,
and due‑diligence processes. Document due‑diligence findings in a consistent
manner, maintaining high‑quality records that support global policies and
standards, audit ability and knowledge retention. Commercial Contracting &
Procurement Draft, review, and negotiate routine and moderately complex
commercial agreements across multiple jurisdictions on an ad hoc basis. Support
remediation activities across relevant workstreams. Track and report progress,
ensuring timely and accurate updates. Maintain accurate documentation to support
transparency and auditability. Gather and analyse data to identify trends,
recurring issues, and areas for improvement. Use insights to enhance contracting
materials, including: Contract templates Guidance materials and playbooks Risk
assessments Alignment of templates with global standards Ensure all contracting
activity reflects relevant legal requirements and internal policies. The role
may also include additional projects or responsibilities as they arise, in line
with business needs. Qualifications & Experience(Mandatory requisites) 5 to 8
year qualified lawyer and company secretary with proven experience in commercial
or corporate legal work. In‑depth knowledge of a core legal discipline and
working understanding of related areas (e.g., privacy, compliance, governance).
Experience delivering legal services across multiple markets or international
contexts. Strong drafting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to
communicate complex or sensitive information clearly and build consensus.
Demonstrated ability to work within broad guidelines and exercise sound
judgement. Preferred: Experience working in a shared services, global capability
centre, or cross‑jurisdictional legal team. Experience with legal operations
tools, contract lifecycle management systems, or compliance systems. Functional
Capabilities Ability to deliver high‑quality legal work at pace and manage
competing priorities. Strong collaborator and stakeholder management and
relationship‑building skills. Comfortable flexing across different workstreams
and legal subject areas. Attention to detail and commitment to high standards of
accuracy and compliance. Proactive approach to problem‑solving. Adept at using
technology and digital tools, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and
use them effectively. Experienced in building, optimising, and documenting
processes to drive efficiency, consistency, and transparency across workflows.
