Job Summary
The Department of Statistics at Amity University Kolkata invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Statistics. The candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses, conducting research, mentoring students, and contributing to academic and institutional development.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Academic Duties
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Statistics and related subjects.
Develop lesson plans, course materials, assignments, and assessment methods.
Conduct lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and seminars.
Use modern teaching methodologies and statistical software tools.
Research & Publications
Conduct high-quality research in Statistics/Data Analytics/Applied Statistics.
Publish research papers in reputed peer-reviewed journals.
Participate in conferences, workshops, FDPs, and seminars.
Apply for funded research projects and consultancy assignments.
Student Mentoring
Guide students in academic projects, internships, and dissertations.
Provide career and research counseling to students.
Support students in competitions, hackathons, and statistical projects.
Administrative & Institutional Work
Participate in departmental committees and accreditation activities.
Assist in curriculum development and syllabus revision.
Contribute to university events, examinations, and academic coordination.
Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualifications
Ph.D. in relevant discipline as per UGC norms.
Strong academic background with knowledge of statistical methods and data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Statistics or related area.
Teaching experience in university/college level.
Research publications in Scopus/UGC-CARE indexed journals.
Knowledge of statistical software such as:
R
SPSS
SAS
Python
MATLAB
Excel Analytics
Desired Skills

Ability to mentor students effectively.
