Role Overview
As a Denodo Engineer, you will design, develop, and administer data virtualization solutions using the Denodo Platform. You’ll work with UBS stakeholders to enable seamless data integration across diverse systems, ensuring high performance, security, and compliance. You’ll also collaborate with global teams to deliver scalable, innovative data services supporting Asset Management and other business domains.

Key Responsibilities
Platform Administration
Manage Denodo Virtual DataPort (VDP) activities: setup, upgrades, scheduler, environment configuration.
Implement caching, load balancing, backups, disaster recovery drills, and automate routine admin tasks.
Development
Create/manage Base, Derived, Interface, and Flatten Views.
Develop and expose data services via REST/SOAP APIs.
Write VQL procedures and custom functions for advanced logic.
Performance Optimization
Identify bottlenecks and apply optimisation techniques: query delegation, join strategies, remote tables, caching.
Conduct load testing and performance tuning for large-scale deployments.
Integration
Connect Denodo with RDBMS, Big Data platforms (Hive, Spark, Presto), cloud storage (Azure Blob, Data Lake).
Integrate with ETL pipelines and data warehouses.

Governance & Security
Implement row- and column-level security, configure access controls, and enforce compliance with UBS standards.
Collaboration & Delivery
Work in a collaborative, multi-site environment to support rapid development and delivery (Agile SDLC).
Engage in knowledge sharing, mentoring, and technical discussions with peers and stakeholders.

Required Skills
5+ years’ hands-on experience with Denodo Platform (development and administration).
Strong expertise in ANSI SQL, VQL, ETL, Data Warehousing, RDBMS.
Experience with Big Data tools (Hive, Spark, Presto) and cloud ecosystems.
Knowledge of performance tuning and MPP architecture.
Familiarity with data governance, security policies, and compliance frameworks.
Bachelor’s degree in IT/Computer Science (preferred) or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Denodo Certification (Architect/Developer).
Experience in banking or financial services domain.
Experience in Agile delivery and CI/CD pipelines.
