What will you contribute? Reporting to the CTO- Payments, the Dev Ops and SRE Leaders designs, develops, analyzes, and maintains high-quality software product applications. This position is located in Pune. Role Summary The Head of SRE in the Payments Business Unit leads the end-to-end Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) strategy to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of payment systems. This role champions DevOps excellence, overseeing the deployment and operation of both monolithic and SaaS applications in a 24/7 environment. The leader collaborates closely with development, product, and operations teams to embed reliability principles, automate operational tasks, and continuously improve system resilience. This senior leader oversees a global team of SRE and DevOps engineers. Key Responsibilities SRE Strategy & Leadership Define and execute the Payments BU SRE strategy aligned with engineering, product, and business objectives. Establish a unified reliability and automation framework across all architectures, deployment models, and operational environments. Foster a culture of operational excellence, proactive incident management, and continuous improvement. Ensure the reliability strategy supports payments’ latency, uptime, and security requirements, aligning with company-wide standards. Operational Excellence & Reliability Partner with engineering teams to embed reliability into design, code, and deployment processes. Set and enforce standards for system monitoring, incident response, and disaster recovery. Lead efforts to implement automated incident detection, alerting, and resolution workflows. Oversee operational metrics, incident analysis, and capacity planning to continuously enhance system resilience. DevOps & Automation Drive automation of deployment, scaling, and operational processes for both monolith and SaaS solutions. Standardize CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automation tooling across teams. Promote the adoption of cloud-native technologies, container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), and multi-cloud strategies. Introduce AI-driven monitoring and remediation techniques to reduce manual operational efforts. Security & Compliance Ensure reliability and operational practices comply with security standards and regulatory requirements in payments. Collaborate with security teams to embed security monitoring within reliability frameworks. Metrics & Continuous Improvement Define, track, and report key reliability KPIs such as uptime, MTTR, latency, incident frequency, and automation coverage. Drive data-driven root cause analysis and iterative improvements to reduce outages and improve deployment success rates. Foster a culture of continuous learning from incidents and failures to improve resilience. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Product, Development, DevOps, Security, and Support teams to align reliability initiatives with product roadmaps. Influence senior stakeholders to prioritize reliability and automation initiatives across the organization. Ensure compliance with enterprise policies and upgrade reliability standards. Align with Finastra Central function as well as SRE of the other BUs Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and develop a global team of a few dozens SREs and DevOps engineers. Build a high-performance, collaborative, and innovative operational team. Promote transparency, knowledge sharing, and a proactive reliability mindset. Qualifications Extensive experience leading Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps teams in complex, high-availability environments. Deep expertise in deploying, managing, and scaling monolithic and SaaS applications. Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, container orchestration (Kubernetes), automation tools, and monitoring frameworks. Proven ability to lead global teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders. Experience in payments, fintech, or financial services is preferred.
