Position: Director – Quality Engineering.
Reports To: VP – Quality Engineering

Position Summary:

The Director of Quality Engineering for the Roaming Network Services will lead the global QE transformation and operations across multiple product lines. This hands-on technical leader will be responsible for redefining quality beyond defect detection to include product design excellence, building a high-performing automation-first QE organization, and ensuring delivery of highly reliable, scalable, and secure products across Mobileum's roaming solutions portfolio.

The ideal candidate will bring a powerful combination of technical depth, transformational leadership, strategic thinking, and extensive experience in telecommunications, particularly in roaming, signaling, mobile core technologies, and cloud-native architectures. This leader must thrive in fast-paced environments, drive meaningful change, and consistently deliver results while building technical excellence.

Quality Evolution & Product Excellence

Redefine Quality Metrics beyond defect detection to include product design efficacy, user experience, and overall solution value
Establish Product Quality Frameworks that address not just functional correctness but architectural soundness, scalability, security-by-design, and performance at scale
Pioneer Quality-as-a-Strategy approach where QE insights actively influence product roadmaps and design decisions
Implement Early Quality Indicators to identify product design deficiencies before development begins
Drive Product Efficacy Assessments to ensure solutions fully address customer needs and deliver maximum business value

Automation Transformation
Lead Comprehensive Automation Strategy covering functional, performance, security, and infrastructure testing with CI/CD pipeline integration
Architect Next-Generation Test Frameworks that are scalable, maintainable, and deliver actionable insights
Implement "Automation-First" Culture where manual testing is the exception, not the rule
Establish Automation KPIs that measure both coverage and effectiveness
Drive Shift-Left Practices including automated design reviews, code quality gates, and security scanning
Spearhead GenAI Adoption in QE by implementing AI-driven test case generation, intelligent test selection, and predictive quality analytics
Develop LLM-Based Test Automation capabilities for natural language test creation, automated API testing, and complex scenario generation
Implement AI-Powered Defect Analysis to automatically categorize, prioritize, and suggest root causes for identified issues
Lead ML-Based Performance Testing initiatives that can predict scalability issues and optimize resource utilization
Create GenAI Testing Center of Excellence to research, pilot, and scale emerging AI technologies in quality engineering.

High-Performance Team Building

Transform Team Structure and Capabilities to align with modern QE practices and cloud-native technologies
Implement Agile QE Methodologies to increase delivery velocity while maintaining quality standards
Cultivate Technical Excellence through hands-on mentoring, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning
Create Centers of Excellence for specialized areas like performance engineering, security testing, and test automation
Develop QE Career Paths that recognize and reward both technical depth and leadership capabilities

Core Operational Responsibilities

Collaborate Across Functions with Product Management, Development, Support, and DevOps to ensure high-quality delivery of releases and patches
Drive Interoperability Testing across multi-vendor and multi-network environments including 2G/3G/4G/5G
Manage Compliance, Performance, and Security Testing for global roaming standards (GSMA, IR.21/IR.85, VoLTE, VoWiFi, etc.)
Execute Quality Risk Assessments, identifying bottlenecks early and driving mitigation plans
Optimize QE Processes to support increased release velocity without compromising quality

Desired Profile: -

15+ years of experience in software quality engineering with 8+ years in transformational leadership roles
Deep Technical Expertise in test automation, CI/CD, cloud architectures, and modern QE practices
Hands-On Technical Leadership with ability to code, architect solutions, and guide technical implementations
Strong Domain Knowledge in Roaming Protocols (SS7, Diameter, GTP, MAP, SIP), core network elements, signaling flows, and cloud-native architectures
Proven Experience in leading and transforming large-scale QE teams across distributed geographies
Track Record of successfully implementing automation frameworks, DevOps practices, and quality metrics that deliver measurable results
Experience operating in fast-paced, startup-like environments with high delivery velocity

Technical Skills

Telecom Protocols & Technologies including SS7, Diameter, GTP, MAP, SIP, and SCTP
Mobile Core Network Architecture across 2G/3G/4G/5G technologies
Roaming & Interconnect Services including voice, SMS, data, and emerging IoT/M2M scenarios
Signaling Flow Analysis for complex call and session scenarios
Network Testing Tools such as protocol analyzers, load generators, and signaling simulators
Advanced Test Automation frameworks, tools, and methodologies
CI/CD Environments and DevOps pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.)
Containerization & Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
Cloud Platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and cloud-native testing approaches
Performance Engineering tools and methodologies
Security Testing practices for telecom and cloud environments
Generative AI Technologies including LLMs, ML-based testing tools, and AI-driven analytics platforms

Background in SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) practices

Work Experience: 15+ years

Educational Qualification: BE. / B.Tech., M.E./M. Tech. or M. Sc. in Computer Science or any related qualification.
