Job Description: We believe in bold ideas, diverse perspectives, and the drive
to transform knowledge into impact. Here, your curiosity fuels progress, your
voice shapes innovation, and your ambition helps redefine what’s possible within
science and learning. We are a culture that obsesses over impact, challenges,
and drives what’s next to power infinite possibilities for our customers,
colleagues and society at large. About the Role: Wiley’s prestigious health
sciences portfolio is seeking a dynamic, ambitious individual with deep
interdisciplinary expertise in both diabetes and cancer research to serve as
Editor-in-Chief. In this role, you will leverage your scientific background,
understanding of disease-mechanism intersections, and knowledge of the scholarly
publishing landscape to guide the strategic development of one or more journals
in our health sciences portfolio. You will work to raise the profile and
visibility of the journal(s) within the broader metabolic disease and oncology
communities, attract high-quality submissions, and ensure that published
research reflects current and emerging trends—including the molecular, clinical,
and epidemiological connections between diabetes and cancer. The Editor in Chief
will contribute to editorial evaluation, manage peer review, make decisions on
manuscripts, and ensure the adoption of best practices and the highest ethical
standards in scientific publishing. How you will make an impact Leverage your
scientific network and subject-matter expertise in diabetes, oncology, and their
intersecting biological pathways to drive content acquisition and submissions
growth across the health sciences portfolio. Strategically develop one or more
journals—from scientific, editorial, and publishing perspectives—within the
broader health sciences journals portfolio. Build and maintain a strong
international network of researchers, authors, peer reviewers, and editorial
board members working in metabolic disorders, cancer biology, clinical oncology,
endocrinology, and related interdisciplinary fields. Represent Wiley and the
health sciences portfolio at conferences, workshops, and academic institutions,
including events focused on diabetes, cancer, precision medicine, and chronic
disease research. Contribute to the editorial evaluation and peer‑review process
for manuscripts submitted across multiple journals, ensuring rigorous standards
and alignment with the journal’s strategic scope. Champion innovations in
scientific communication, publishing ethics, and open research—particularly in
rapidly evolving areas such as metabolic–oncologic crosstalk, biomarker
discovery, and translational research. Collaborate with your manager and
colleagues to foster a culture of trust, respect, curiosity, and high
performance. What we are looking for A PhD (or equivalent) in diabetes research,
cancer biology, molecular endocrinology, metabolic disease, oncology, or a
closely related biomedical field—with a strong and well-established research
background spanning both diabetes and cancer or clear expertise in their
mechanistic overlaps (e.g., insulin signaling, inflammation pathways,
obesity-related cancer risk, metabolic reprogramming). A strong understanding of
the latest scientific and clinical developments in both fields, including
interdisciplinary research trends, emerging therapeutic strategies, and
precision medicine approaches. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with
a flexible, innovative approach to problem‑solving and a focus on achieving
meaningful outcomes. Ability to build consensus, work collaboratively, and
influence others through scientific credibility and thoughtful engagement. A
self‑motivated, diplomatic, and organized professional with strong
English-language skills (written and verbal) and excellent time‑management
abilities. A solid understanding of scholarly publishing, including editorial
workflows, commissioning, and the peer‑review process. Prior publishing
experience is highly desirable. A passion for science communication and a strong
desire to advocate for advancements in publishing, open research, and
dissemination of impactful interdisciplinary science. Confidence and enthusiasm
for representing the journal portfolio at scientific conferences, visiting
research institutes, nurturing existing professional relationships, and
developing new networks—with a willingness to travel. We power infinite
possibilities. For more than 200 years, we've transformed knowledge into
discoveries that shape the world. Today, our global team of innovators,
creators, and experts is driving what's next in science, education, and
publishing—creating impact that reaches everywhere. We're not just observers of
