EMC Engineer
Scope of Role
EMC standards, EMC‑driven ECU & system design, validation testing, and systematic issue resolution to ensure regulatory and OEM compliance.
Area of Responsibility
EMC modelling capability growth (skills, training, knowledge)
Definition and governance of commodity and system deliverables (ensure that logical targets are available, provide quality and engineering sign-off)
Functional alignment with Vehicle EMC team and EMC test teams
Excellent communication skills
Champion of JLR problem solving toolsets
Understand programme delivery timing (PCDS)
Delivery / support of advanced technology projects.
Knowledge / Experience – 6 to 8 Years
Essential:
Systems engineering knowledge, acceptance of requirements and decomposition to subcomponents
Analytical skills including the ability to conduct complex research into new technologies and tools
Ability to effectively explain complex ideas, confidently presenting these to senior stakeholders using presentation or other tools as required
Degree or relevant equivalent experience
In-depth knowledge of the sources of EMC within the EDU (Inverter, eMachine and HV/LV wiring)
Knowledge in the area of EMC – focusing on BEV (EDUs, Inverters, eMachines, and HV/LV wiring for EDUs)
Knowledge on EMC CAE (LT-Spice) to design and develop specific EDU CAE tools, incorporating the integrated HV inverter, Electric Machine & Transmission parasitic capacitances & stray inductances.
Knowledge of EMC legislations (GBT18387, ECE Regulation 10)
Optimisation of EMC around other critical EDU attributes i.e., Efficiency, NVH & DC Ripple
Tools - EMC test plans, DVP&R related to EMC, MATLAB / Simulink
Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in: Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering
