Role summary: Keep AR Calling and denial workflows moving with speed and accuracy as an Operations Analyst in Chennai, India (Hybrid). You’ll manage day-to-day AR calling activities and support denial management within RCM operations to improve outcomes and operational consistency. This position will report to the Operations Manager. Team summary: The operations team owns and executes critical workflow components of athenahealth. The team drives key initiatives across athenaClinicals and athenaCollector by partnering with customers and internal stakeholders to resolve issues, improve performance, and deliver reliable outcomes. The team leverages operational knowledge from across athenahealth services and uses capabilities within the athenaNet platform to improve processes and advance services over time. Essential Job Responsibilities Conduct AR calling activities to support timely patient or payer follow-up as required by workflow standards. Manage denial-related work by identifying denial causes and ensuring appropriate next steps are taken within defined processes. Review RCM documentation and transaction details to confirm accuracy, completeness, and adherence to policy. Update work queues and operational systems with accurate statuses, notes, and outcomes to maintain audit-ready records. Analyze trends in AR calling and denials to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities. Coordinate with internal partners to resolve escalations and ensure consistent handling of denial cases. Ensure quality and compliance by following SOPs and established denial/RCM handling guidelines. Report daily/weekly activity metrics and provide clear summaries of progress, blockers, and next actions. Use AI-enabled tools to enhance productivity and learning by applying AI-assisted summaries or pattern checks to support routine AR calling and denial investigation—while keeping responsibility for validation and final operational decisions. Additional Job Responsibilities Support special projects related to AR Calling and denial workflow optimization. Assist with knowledge base updates by documenting common denial reasons and resolution guidance. Participate in operational reviews and feedback sessions to improve process adherence. Help train or mentor peers on workflow steps and quality expectations as needed. Perform additional RCM operational tasks assigned by the team to meet coverage requirements. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by proposing process refinements based on observed outcomes. Expected Education & Experience 2–4 years of experience in healthcare operations, RCM, or related claims/AR workflows. Strong proficiency in MS office tools (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word etc..) Practical experience with AR Calling and day-to-day AR follow-up activities. Experience with denial management, including reviewing denial details and progressing cases appropriately. Working knowledge of RCM concepts and standard operational workflows. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation. Comfort working with operational systems and work queues for status tracking and case updates. Ability to work effectively to SOPs and quality standards in a time-sensitive environment.
