Description Title: Senior Cloud Engineer Location: India Job Type: Hybrid
Employment Type: Full Time Work Experience: 7-8 years Business Technology
(BizTech) provides the internal technology platforms that enable Guidewire to
operate as the most efficient, trusted vertical SaaS company in P&C insurance.
The FY26 BizTech priorities emphasise agentic and GenAI enablement, operational
excellence, data-driven decision-making, and excellent employee experience — all
under a “One Global Team” mindset with speed, agility, and balanced risk and
controls. As a Senior Cloud Engineer in BizTech Infrastructure, you’ll be a key
contributor to these priorities by building secure, reliable, and automated
cloud platforms that internal teams depend on every day. Guidewire’s culture
values determination, collaboration, continuous improvement, and bravery, and we
are committed to customer success and innovation across digital, core,
analytics, and AI, all delivered as cloud services. In this role, you’ll
collaborate closely with security, engineering, finance, and product
stakeholders to turn business goals into resilient cloud architectures and
modern DevOps practices. What You Will Do Cloud Architecture & Engineering
Design, build, and maintain production-grade cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP
to support BizTech platforms, internal applications, and integration services.
Lead and participate in architecture reviews, define cloud reference
architectures and standards, and guide teams toward highly available, scalable,
and cost-efficient solutions. Partner with FinOps and BizTech leadership to
optimize cloud spend, improve cost visibility, and support Guidewire’s goal of
becoming the most efficient, trusted vertical SaaS company. Drive operational
excellence by improving observability, reliability, and incident response for
shared infrastructure and services, enabling fast, stable delivery of internal
capabilities. Infrastructure as Code & Platform Automation Own Infrastructure as
Code (IaC) practices using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi,
ensuring all infrastructure is version-controlled, testable, and reproducible.
Build and maintain reusable IaC modules and blueprints aligned with BizTech and
Security standards, enabling safe self-service provisioning for engineering
teams. Implement policy-as-code to enforce security, compliance, and cost
guardrails (for example, tagging standards, network controls, and role-based
access controls). Develop automation and runbooks for common operational tasks,
integrating with CI/CD pipelines and ITSM processes to reduce manual work and
improve consistency. DevOps & SecOps Toolchain Management Administer and evolve
core engineering platforms such as Artifactory, GitHub, SonarQube, Snyk, and
related services that support Guidewire’s product and BizTech engineering teams.
Manage the full lifecycle for these platforms, including provisioning,
configuration, scaling, upgrades, integrations, and decommissioning to ensure
high availability and performance. Own role design, access models, and license
utilization, balancing strong security controls with easy, productive developer
experiences. Integrate these tools into CI/CD workflows and align them with
BizTech’s operational excellence goals so teams can ship secure, quality
software quickly and reliably. Security & Vulnerability Management Partner with
Security, Product Security, and BizTech application teams to identify,
prioritize, and remediate cloud infrastructure and dependency vulnerabilities
across environments. Embed security controls and checks into CI/CD pipelines,
including infrastructure policy validation, code scanning, dependency and
container scanning, and configuration compliance. Implement and maintain robust
access controls, RBAC, and MFA integrations in collaboration with Security and
Identity teams, supporting company-wide data governance and secure reporting
initiatives. Contribute to improving Guidewire’s overall security posture by
standardizing configurations, increasing automation and auditability, and
adopting best practices aligned with recognized security frameworks. AI‑Driven
Automation & Modernization Apply AI and LLM‑based tools to accelerate
infrastructure provisioning, environment management, incident troubleshooting,
and vulnerability remediation, in support of BizTech’s Agentic Platform and
GenAI enablement goals. Collaborate with BizTech’s citizen developer platform
and engineering excellence initiatives to expose cloud and DevOps capabilities
through safe, automated interfaces, agents, and APIs. Identify legacy or manual
processes within cloud operations and tooling, and lead modernization efforts
that leverage AI, event-driven automation, and standardized patterns to increase
speed and reliability. Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication Work closely
with engineering, security, finance, and business stakeholders to translate
requirements into pragmatic, well-governed cloud solutions that balance risk,
cost, and agility. Communicate architectural decisions, tradeoffs, and platform
roadmaps clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences so that
stakeholders understand impact and value. Create documentation, diagrams, and
knowledge-sharing materials that help teams adopt and use BizTech platforms
effectively, reducing onboarding time and support effort. Champion
infrastructure and platform initiatives by articulating their business value in
terms of reliability, security, developer productivity, and cost efficiency,
contributing to BizTech’s vision of enabling Guidewire’s growth to $2B in
revenue. How You Will Contribute to Guidewire’s Mission Guidewire transforms how
P&C insurers do business by delivering a secure, reliable, and innovative cloud
platform that combines digital, core, analytics, and AI capabilities. As a
Senior Cloud Engineer in BizTech, you will provide the internal cloud
foundations and engineering toolchains that help our teams move faster, adopt AI
responsibly, and operate with high security and reliability. Your work will
directly support cross‑functional initiatives such as Revenue Cloud/OSM
(Sunrise), GenAI enablement, secure data platforms, and self-service analytics
that underpin Guidewire’s growth, operational excellence, and customer success.
What We’re Looking For Significant hands-on experience designing, building, and
operating production workloads in AWS and/or GCP, including core services such
as networking, IAM, storage, compute, and managed databases. Strong expertise in
Infrastructure as Code (for example, Terraform) and Git-based workflows,
including code review, testing, and deployment automation. Practical experience
operating and integrating DevOps/SecOps platforms such as Artifactory, GitHub,
SonarQube, Snyk, or similar tools, ideally in a multi-team or enterprise
environment. Solid understanding of cloud security best practices, including
RBAC, MFA, secrets management, network segmentation, encryption, and
vulnerability management. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation
technologies (for example, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar), and
a track record of improving delivery speed and reliability. Familiarity with
observability tooling (logs, metrics, traces) and SRE or operational excellence
practices, such as SLIs/SLOs, post-incident reviews, and reliability
engineering. Interest in or experience with applying AI or LLM tools to
infrastructure, DevOps workflows, or security operations, and a desire to
experiment and learn in this space. Ability to communicate clearly with
engineers, product managers, security, finance, and business stakeholders, and
to influence decisions using data, metrics, and well-structured reasoning.
Growth mindset aligned with Guidewire’s culture of collaboration, continuous
improvement, and bravery in tackling complex, high-impact problems at scale.
